The day in the forest
On the tour "The Day In The Forest" you will drive with us to the private park in Chamarel. Here we show you first the Ebony Forest Reserve with its endemic plants project. A jeep will bring us first to the raised Flycatcher Trail where you will learn and see a lot about the endemic plants like ebony trees and hopefully also some of the local birds.
From here we can walk along a ridge trail to the "Sublime Viewpoint". Here you have a breathtaking view over the southern part of the west coast, from Le Morne Brabant to La Tourelle Mountain at Tamarin. Instead of walking we can also hop on the jeep to bring us to the viewpoint.
After the Ebony Forest we move on to have a short stop at one of the most iconic points of Mauritius, the "Seven Colored Earth". Beside the colored earth we visit the giant turtles.
Our last stop in the Chamarel park is "La villeon". This is another nature reserve with the possibility to slide on a zip-line (additional cost of 20 €) and stop by another viewpoint over a deep river valley.
After a lunch break in the village of Chamarel the driver brings us to the high plateau of the National Park to have a stop at the Gorges Viewpoint. If the weather is nice we enjoy a beautiful view over the national forest towards the west coast.
