The North of Mauritius
The route of the tour will depend on the location of your hotel. It will include a visit to the small red church in Cap Malheureux, which is the furthest point north in Mauritius from where you will have a fantastic view of the islands beyond. A short trip leads us to Grand Baie, the centre of tourism in Mauritius. From there we will drive further to visit the largest hindu temple in Triolet, the Maheswarnath Shiv Mandir which was built in 1891. After this we will drive to the famous botanical gardens of Pamplemousses, the oldest of the southern hemisphere, which was set up on the initiative of Pierre Poivre in 1770. The garden with its winding paths has been preserved as in the past and a walk through those gardens can be a balm for body and soul. The capital city, Port Louis, is part of the programme. After gathering impressions of the old city, the new market and the Caudan Waterfront, it will be time to drive back to your hotel. The entrance fee to the botanical gardens is included in the tour.
